Huddle up, builders and explorers! The latest Minecraft Bedrock Preview 26.70.23 has dropped, bringing a treasure trove of long-awaited blocks, a fresh tune, and a quality-of-life feature that will change how you build and fight. This preview is part of Drop 4 of 2026 and is available now on Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, Android, iOS, iPadOS, and ChromeOS. Let’s dig into everything new and shiny!

What You Need to Know

  • Edição: Bedrock (Preview) – not a Java snapshot.
  • Versão: 26.70.23
  • Required: No modloader needed; this is an official Minecraft preview. Join through the Xbox Insider Hub or your platform’s store page if you’re enrolled in the beta program.

Full Calcite Block Family Arrives

Calcite, that smooth white stone found in amethyst geodes and mountain strata, has finally gotten the love it deserves. The preview adds Calcite Stairs, Calcite Slabs, and Calcite Walls, giving you standard shapes to match the existing Calcite Block. No more placing full blocks when you need a delicate trim on your snowy mansion!

Polished Calcite & New Variants

But wait—there’s even more. The update introduces a whole Polished Calcite set with a refined, marble-like sheen. You can now craft:

  • Polished Calcite Block
  • Polished Calcite Stairs, Slabs, and Walls
  • Polished Calcite Bricks and their stair/slab/wall variants
  • Calcite Pillar for a column look

Crafting recipes follow the same pattern as stone types: for stairs, slabs, and walls, place the base calcite block in a crafting grid. Polished Calcite likely comes from four calcite in a square, then bricks from polished calcite, etc. (We’ll test exact recipes once the full release drops!)

“The long-awaited calcite brick set doesn’t just bring one, but two, new variants for builders! … Their marble-like pallor instantly adds a fancy flair to any winter wonderland.”
— Jay Wells, Minecraft.net

New Music Disc ‘flurry’ by Hyper Potions

What’s a frozen landscape without a soundtrack? A brand-new music disc called ‘flurry’, composed by Hyper Potions, can now be found inside igloo chests. It has a 30% chance to spawn in those cozy basement storerooms. Pop it into a jukebox and let the chilly beats loop while you craft calcite stairs. And as a bonus, jukeboxes no longer emit vibrations when you swap a disc from their playlist—perfect for keeping those sneaky wardens off your trail.

Off-Hand Item Swapping Made Easy

Finally, Bedrock players can swap items between the main hand and off-hand without opening the inventory! Simply press F on your keyboard, or use the crafting button if you’re on a controller. This tiny change makes shield handling, map swapping, and torch-placing in the dark dramatically smoother.

Ice and Redstone: A Cool Combo

Redstone engineers, take note: Packed Ice Bricks and Chiseled Packed Ice now conduct redstone signals. That means you can build icy circuits that transmit power without melting. Additionally, several frozen blocks (including Brittle Ice, Packed Ice Bricks, Chiseled Packed Ice, and Snow Bricks) now block light correctly, so mobs standing under them won’t burn in daylight. No more accidental zombie-torchers in your ice fort!

Gameplay Tweaks & Bug Fixes

  • Being on fire prevents freezing buildup, and standing in fire or lava while freezing no longer plays endless fizz sounds. Much less annoying.
  • Hoppers will no longer lose their items when replaced with /fill ou /setblock commands. Your precious loot is safe.
  • Screen narration improvements: tab descriptions, item positions in lists, and Realms AdminLog narration all get clearer. Accessibility wins!

What’s Next?

This preview wraps up the feature set for Drop 4 of 2026, so expect these additions to hit the full Bedrock release very soon. In the meantime, hop into the Preview to experiment with calcite pillars and hunt for a ‘flurry’ disc in igloo basements.
